Typical LA | OOTD

IMG_8833

Hey Lovelies!

I am just taking a little break from work before having to go back into focus productive mode! I have been really lacking on post lately but that will be explained at the end of this, for now lets get started with this OOTD.

This day started off as a not-so-typical-LA-shoot to a full on mainstream-touristy-cliche LA-shoot. I really wanted to visit the Architecture + Design museum building before they demolish it for the new metro station but I guess they decided to shut it down early? It was suppose to go on until the end of April, instead it was already closed when I went 2 weeks ago. Boo. So the closest, walkable place to go was none other than the infamous LACMA.

True story.. I once drove by at night and saw a man dressed as Jesus emerging from the glowing lamp post with his arm raised high approaching the busy LA Streets.

I have been using this bag a ton lately and you will never guess how much it was. $5! YES! Only in Asia… sorry. I have decided that if this purse dies on me then I will invest in one that is similar in color because this red compliments almost any outfit. Its not a vibrant red so it won’t stick out as a in you face statement piece but it is also colorful enough to where you won’t miss it (c’mon its red).

Give yourself a break this summer from denim shorts and pick up a pair of beige/khaki shorts! Denim is great but these shorts transition from day to night so much more effortlessly.

I am swamped and crazy busy for the next couple of weeks trying to get a show together so that means sleepless nights until opening day. For that reason, my normal posting will resume at the end of May! I have 2 haul videos that has been filmed and one completely edited but I am having such a hard time converting it since my computer has run out of disk space. The frustration of constantly moving things into my external has got me pulling my hair out. There is only so much I can remove from my computer without it handicapping me when I work on-the-go. OKAY enough ranting about my computer problems! Hopefully I can get those 2 hauls up and if not I’ll just post them as a blog post which will save me hours of work.

Thank you guys so much for reading and I’ll see you in my next post
❤ Jess

Review: Laneige BB Cushion

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Hello!

I have used BB creams since ’08/’09?  I don’t really remember but it was when it started to become popular. BB Cream is a staple in my collection because its what I wear on days where I don’t feel like doing my makeup but I need something light. Its one of those products that is good to have around. When this concept of a cushion BB cream was on the market its one of those extremely intriguing things that a beauty addict wont be able to pass on.

I chose the Laneige Cushion BB because it is actually the most easily accessible given that its available at Target! I’m not sure if all cushion BB comes with a refill but mine did which was really nice because this definitely does not have as much product as a tube of BB cream.

I have been meaning to write this review since last year but never got around to it so I figured this is the perfect time to write one because I just finished my first pack. The refill is very easy to pop in and out so the refill process is extremely easy. With the refill, it also comes with a new pad so if your old one was getting a bit used and old then no worries because you have a new one!

Like most BB Creams, the shade selection is not great with only 2 that is catered more towards the lighter skin tones. the coverage is light to medium but more towards the lighter end. You can build it up by layering more on but I have found that the more I layer on, the quicker my skin will get oily. Generally I would have to blot about 3.5-5 hours in because it is not good at controlling oil at all.

I would recommend this to be part of a on-the-go makeup kit because of how simple and easy it is to use. You don’t have to worry about bringing an extra brush or if your hands are clean to apply this. Although this is a lighter formulation I don’t find myself relying on this during the hotter months because it is more on the moisturizing spectrum. If you have dry skin then this would work for you  but for me that has combination skin its a bit trickier. I like to have this as an option in my collection but its definitely not part of my everyday routine.

Have you tried other cushion BB that you would recommend?

Until next time,
❤ Jess

Review: Maybelline the Rocket Volume Mascara

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Hello Lovelies!

I have been on a Mascara Binge lately which would explain why I have so many mascara reviews up. I would like to do this review a little later but I just can’t contain how excited I am to have found this miracle worker in a tube.

Package: Feels just like any of the other Maybelline Mascaras.

Brush: Although I have mentioned that I generally don’t like plastic brushes but I DO like this one. This brush is very similar to the CoverGirl Lash Blast Mascara (which is another mascara that I like as well).

Maybelline_RocketVolume_2

Formulation: The most PERFECT consistency. Just the right amount of wet but not overly wet that will make my lashes loose its curl.

Maybelline_Rocket Volume_1

Performance: I got this in the waterproof formula (my usual) and I haven’t experience much smudging during a 7+ hour day. Your lashes are properly separated without it clumping up and best of all it holds a curl fantastically!

Final Verdict: Hands down the BEST drugstore mascara I have ever used. The curling power of this is comparable to my beloved Majolica Majorca Mascara which is amazing because I have not found one that is comparable until now. My only complaint would be that I would like this to be a bit more volumizing. I’m not saying that it isn’t volumizing already because it is, but in a very natural way. I like a bit more volume but besides that I Really Really Really do recommend this to those that have trouble finding a mascara that will hold your curls.

Until Next Time,
❤ Jessica
